The Power of Advertisements

Advertisements are very powerful that a good one can turn a trash product into a goldmine for the manufacturers. I know one health product distributed and manufactured by a large pharmaceutical company with very little nutrients as graded by a third party laboratory, but due to good advertising, it was perceived by the public as something that has it all, making it the number one brand in the country.

I also have encountered an advertisement of a big paint company wherein a husband was shown to paint the face and body of his nagging wife until she stopped talking, that for me was sadistic, something that promotes violence against women, that is why I aired my opinion in our yahoo groups wherein some minds behind the said advertisement answered my concern and viewpoint on the said ad. They even said that many people find the ad rather “funny”. But how could you make fun of your father for example, hurting your mother until she shuts up her mouth?

I am very happy that they already replaced that ad with a new and nicer one.

With this new category “Advertisements”, I will show ads that catches my attention, those which are worth praising and responsible. Because we should always remember that what children see on television, will affect their values, attitude and behavior. What children see that adults do, for them are correct and can therefore be emulated. In this regard, we should be very careful with the advertisements that we release. What affects an individual or a child will affect our nation and the world as a whole, for we are all in many ways connected to each other.
